We're hiring

Order Processor

  • Middlesbrough
  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Full-time
  • On-site, BM Bi-Folding Doors HQ Showroom

The Company

BM Bi-Folding Doors is a fast-growing specialist manufacturer and installer of bespoke aluminium bifolding doors, sliding doors, internal doors, windows and glazing systems. We work with both homeowners and trade customers, delivering high-quality, made-to-measure products backed by strong service, technical expertise and industry knowledge.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Order Processor to strengthen the link between our Sales and Manufacturing teams, improve consistency and give our salespeople more time to focus on what they do best: selling.

The Role

The Order Processor is a key support role sitting between Sales and Manufacturing.

Once a customer has committed to an order and the required contract, deposit and/or survey information is available, you will take the information supplied by the sales and surveying teams and ensure the order is accurate, complete and ready to progress into manufacture.

You’ll work with detailed specifications covering bespoke aluminium doors, windows and associated products, using BM’s specialist fabrication software to turn sales and survey information into correctly processed orders.

Accuracy is critical. A small error in a measurement, configuration, colour, glazing specification or hardware selection can result in an incorrectly manufactured bespoke product and a costly remake.

You’ll therefore act as an important internal quality-control checkpoint, identifying missing information, inconsistencies and potential errors before an order reaches production.

This is predominantly an internally focused role. The salesperson retains ownership of the customer relationship, while you take responsibility for ensuring the technical and operational handover into manufacturing is accurate and complete.

Key Responsibilities

Order processing

  • Process confirmed orders following contract acceptance, deposit and/or completion of survey
  • Translate sales contracts, survey information and technical specifications into production-ready orders
  • Input and process orders using specialist fabrication software
  • Ensure orders are processed accurately and efficiently before being released into manufacture
  • Maintain clear and accurate order documentation
  • Manage multiple live orders at different stages of processing
  • Ensure completed orders are handed over correctly to Manufacturing and Operations

Technical checking & quality control

  • Review order details thoroughly before manufacture
  • Check measurements, configurations, colours, glazing specifications, thresholds, cills, handles, hardware and other product options
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and survey information
  • Ensure products and configurations are technically suitable for manufacture
  • Identify missing, conflicting or unclear information
  • Spot potential errors before they become manufacturing problems
  • Identify obvious pricing or specification discrepancies that may require further investigation
  • Ensure the correct information and documentation is present before an order progresses

Sales support

  • Remove processing and administrative workload from the sales team, allowing them to spend more time with customers and prospects
  • Work closely with sales consultants to resolve incomplete or unclear order information
  • Provide technical and processing support where required
  • Challenge inaccuracies professionally and confidently
  • Help establish a consistent order-processing standard across the entire sales team
  • Ensure sales-to-production handovers are complete and accurate

Manufacturing & operational coordination

  • Act as an important link between Sales and Manufacturing
  • Liaise with manufacturing colleagues regarding specifications, technical queries and order requirements
  • Work with suppliers where required to confirm product or component information
  • Resolve processing queries before orders reach production
  • Support a smooth and efficient flow of work from confirmed sale through to manufacture and operational handover
  • Escalate potential problems early rather than allowing them to progress through the manufacturing process

Systems & Software

The role will involve regular use of BM’s internal systems, including:

  • V6 Smart Product, for fabrication and order processing
  • Logical, for shaped window fabrication
  • Monday.com, for internal sales and order information
  • Email and other internal business systems

Previous experience with these specific systems is advantageous but not essential. Product and system training will be provided.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within order processing, technical administration, manufacturing, estimating, fabrication or a similar detail-focused role
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong accuracy-first mindset
  • Comfortable working with measurements, specifications and technical information
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and detailed order information
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple orders and priorities
  • Confident using computer-based systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable identifying and challenging incorrect or incomplete information
  • Clear and professional internal communication skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience within the window, door or wider fenestration industry
  • Experience with aluminium windows and doors
  • Experience within manufacturing, construction or home improvement
  • Previous use of fabrication or specialist order-processing software
  • Experience with V6 Smart Product, Logical or similar fenestration software
  • Understanding of window and door configurations, glazing, hardware and associated components

Personal Attributes

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Detail obsessed: you naturally notice when something doesn’t look right
  • Methodical: you like following a process and completing things properly
  • Organised: you’re comfortable managing multiple jobs without losing track of the detail
  • Calm under pressure: you don’t sacrifice accuracy when things get busy
  • A problem solver: when something doesn’t make sense, you investigate it
  • Confident: you’re comfortable challenging information supplied by others when you believe something may be wrong
  • Accountable: you take pride in the quality and accuracy of your work
  • Technically curious: you enjoy learning how products are designed, configured and manufactured

Working Environment

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Full-time, based on-site at our Middlesbrough HQ showroom

Location:
BM Bi-Folding Doors HQ Showroom
Maxwell Road, Skippers Lane Industrial Estate
